Plan Your Trip

Marquette is a top destination to get away from it all and to enjoy the Northwoods.

Find a variety of things to do all year round. Whether you enjoy hiking in the woods, playing in the water, local foods, or entertainment, you’ll find it all in the Upper Peninsula.

Spend the day chasing waterfalls all within a few minutes of downtown. Start with Dead River Falls then head to Morgan Falls. Hike to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain to experience the expansive views of the city, the lake, and the wilderness.

Take a boat tour of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, grab lunch in Munising, then hike the park’s forest trails to Superior.

Stay close to the city and bike or drive three and a half miles to Presque Isle Park. Hike the easy path that winds around the peninsula. Be sure to stop at Blackrocks where you’ll see the brave of all ages waiting their turn to jump off the cliff into Lake Superior.

After enjoying the greatest of the Great Lakes and the trails, you’ll have worked up an appetite. Every year brings more options for visitors like you.

Visit one of our local breweries like Black Rocks, Ore Dock, or the Vierling, to name a few. Or stop by brewer’s coop Drifa to sample new microbrews.

For a quick bite check out the food truck scene: The Burger Bus, Fish Express, Smelted for pizza, and Dia de Los Tacos (a local favorite.)

Around town, you’ll find three French patisseries, classic German cuisine, fast-casual Tex-Mex, dining pubs, and of course our regional favorite, pasties.

You’ll never run out of things to do.
