A local favorite that serves locally sourced food made from scratch. Start with breakfast but come back for lunch and dinner. Everything is homemade, cooked to order, and delicious. They brew Colectivo Coffee from Wisconsin!

Contrast Coffee

UP-based roaster, serving breakfast and lunch

Contrast Coffee is a U.P.-based coffee roaster (some think it is hands-down the best local roaster). Plus, their breakfast sandwiches made on fresh sourdough, with homemade sauces, and grilled are delicious. For lunch choose sweet or savory crepes, panini sandwiches, or salad.

Donckers

Historic candy shop, serving breakfast and lunch

Doncker’s has something for everyone. With a focus on fresh and locally sourced ingredients and with vegetarian and meat options. The breakfast menu is huge with omelets and scrambles, breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, and ‘hash smash’, Donckers spin on corned beef hash. On your way out the door, stop by the candy counter for chocolates and candies made in-house.

This popular breakfast restaurant is known for breakfast burritos and yummy sandwiches. Come early to guarantee a table or order take-out. Insider Tip: Arrive early, Java Bay is a small space and is very popular.

If you are looking for something light and delicious, you will love 231. You will find coffee, breakfast, pastries, lunch, nuts and chocolate, and desserts daily. Huron Mountain Bakery

Great sandwiches to go, delicious bread 

Heading out to the beach? Stop by Huron Mountain Bakery and pick up a few sandwiches for the cooler. A great sandwich starts with the bread and here sandwiches are made with French baguettes, ciabatta buns, multi-grain slices, or all-butter croissants. My personal favorite is “The Locks” made with pesto, grilled chicken breast, capicola, provolone, tomato, arugula with garlic balsamic vinaigrette on a ciabatta bun. Yum.

Kimchee, cheese curds, whitefish tacos—eclectic! 

DIGS might have the most eclectic menu in Marquette serving everything from Kimchi rice balls, cheese curds, whitefish tacos, to hot dogs served with aioli. They aim to serve American pub food with a fun spin. The cocktail menu reflects the chef’s food adventure. In 2021 DIGS opened an outdoor patio and music space.

Locals love dining on the outdoor patio that overlooks the Lower Harbor and Lake Superior. Whether you eat inside or out the menu has something for everyone. Starting with salads, soups, burgers, and sandwiches for lighter fare. For the hungry, find locally caught Lake Superior Whitefish dinners and more. My personal favorite thing to eat at Iron Bay is the Chopped Salad.

Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery

Authentic Louisiana classics, local favorite

Lagniappe is another local favorite. Authentic Louisiana culinary classics are featured. Southern cuisine with the chef’s creative flair is also on the menu. Chef Don Durley says it is a myth that all Cajun food is spicy. He cooks with spice for flavor, not for heat. Try Lagniappe for favorite Cajun classics like Seafood Bisque and Gumbo Ya-Ya, Louisiana style Po Boys, and traditional Southern fried catfish, shrimp, and crawfish platters.

Located in downtown Marquette, The 906 has the best view of any bar in town with the iconic ore dock in the background. It is locally owned and family-friendly. The menu features from scratch dishes and sauces made with fresh ingredients. Plus, with 14 big screen televisions, no matter where you sit you won’t miss a minute of the action.

The Delft has very very good burgers. If you are looking for a more refined meal you can find that too. My personal favorites are the Loaded Brussel Sprouts and the Harvest Beet Salad. You can expect a perfectly prepared meal.
